Entering at Little Indian Sioux River North, located off the Echo Trail, is just a half day paddle to Devil’s Cascade south of Loon Lake. Devil’s Cascade is another piece of the glacial remains that makes the BWCA Wilderness what it is today.

On your paddle, you travel the Little Indian Sioux River North, into the Upper Pauness and Lower
Pauness Lakes. Once you make it to the Cascades your options are wide open:

  • Venture east into Shell, Little Shell, Lynx, and all the way to Lake Agnes.
  • Continue to follow the Little Indian Sioux River north to explore Loon Lake and further north
    the beautiful shores of Snow Bay on Lac La Croix.
  • Or from Loon Lake, paddle south down the Loon River into the rocky shores of Little
    Vermilion Lake.

Depending on the time you have, and the amount of travel wanted, Little Indian Sioux River North entry point
has lots of possibilities for adventure.

One-Way boat shuttles are available for Lac La Croix or Loon Lake.
